(098***) Jak často létám letadlem?

Hello my dear Czech learner, jak se máš? Today, at the end of the episode you will find a quick description of all the possibilities when to use the perfective and imperfective forms of Czech verbs 🙂 Enjoy!

Zrovna sedím v letadle. Letím do Francie.

přiletím do Francie, bude už noc. Minule to bylo zajímavé, protože nám letadlo skoro uletělo. Špatně jsme si spočítali čas, který je potřeba na přesun domov – letiště. A nejen to. Také jsme se strávili příliš mnoho času posloucháním řecké hudby. Tolik jsme se nemohli dočkat odletu do Řecka! Naštěstí se problém s letadlem vyřešil sám. Protože letadlo mělo zpoždění. Cha chá. To byl skvělý pocit, pocit, jako když vyhraješ 1. cenu!

Zase brzy ahoj,
Vaše Eliška

    Ahoj, mám jednu otázku.
“Letím do Francie”-je to dokonavé sloveso na budoucnosti (we are going to fly (once) to France)?

    Ahoj René,
    budoucí tvar je zajímavý 🙂
Často je logika podobná jako v angličtině:
Now I am flying. = Teď letím do Francie = jsem v letadle.
Tomorrow I am flying = Zítra letím do Francie = zítra budu v letadle.

    Or you can use “POLETÍM/E”
And “We are going to fly (one day) to France” = (Jednou) poletíme do Francie. This verb “poletíme” is quite strange. We use it only in this conjugated form and in this meaning. Příští rok poletíme na Hawai. Příští týden poletím do Ameriky. Brzy poletím na dovolenou. You can replace “poletíme” by “letíme” and the meaning is the same. Příští rok letíme na Hawai. Příští týden letím do Ameriky. Brzy letím na dovolenou. The slightest, smallest difference can be felt – “poletíme” form really implies the one shot, short action.

Edit – all the verbs of movement are a bit weird 🙂
    CHODÍM / JDU
    JEZDÍM / JEDU
    LÉTÁM / LETÍM
Those are the basic forms of repetitive action (1st) and one-action (2nd).
And you can add a prefix to the one-action verb and will get the future form:
    PŮJDU
    POJEDU
    POLETÍM tomorrow, just once.
    😉

I am slowczech founder and from my experience I know two things: beginners can understand words with time. And enjoyable input is vital for natural language acquisition. Many give up Czech due to old methods, irrelevant vocabulary or overwhelming grammar. Let’s change that and make learning Czech exciting and effective.
