(117**) Jdu do restaurace

Mmmm! Mám hlad!

Taky tady mají moc dobré palačinky a ovocné knedlíky – znáš ovocné knedlíky?

My, Češi, tomu říkáme “meníčka” – např.

A proto musíme mořské ryby importovat. Jo a můžeš si tady taky dát veganské jídlo – brokolicový karbanátek, bramborovou kaši a okurku.

Achjo. Ale snad to brzy bude jinak!

No a co obsluha?

A chutnají ti české palačinky? Máš rád/ráda české restaurace?

Tak čáu, Eliška

To neznám.
I had fun!)

    Dear Eliška,

Thank you very much for that text.

    I have a small question.

In this text, you said “oba dva” referring to both the waiter and the waitress. Is this grammatically correct? What happens when it’s two girls? Or two guys? This has a different forms when it comes to inanimate?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Dear Sheldon,
thank you for your thanks! 😀
    And what a great question!

    1) Yes, “oba dva” is referring to 1 man + 1 woman. Or 2 men.
    2) two girls -> “obě dvě”
    No other forms.

M, M: Jakub a Petr: Oba dva se pořád usmívají.
F, F: Ivana a Jana: Obě dvě se pořád usmívají.
M, F: Jakub a Ivana: Oba dva se pořád usmívají
N, N: Obě dvě (kuřata, zvířata, slůňata,…) se pořád usmívají 🙂

The same: “Dva” for men, “Dvě” for girls and neutre, if you are using only number 2.
    Dva muži.
    Dva telefony.
    Dvě ženy.
    Dvě auta.

business, mother, polyglote

I am slowczech founder and from my experience I know two things: beginners can understand words with time. And enjoyable input is vital for natural language acquisition. Many give up Czech due to old methods, irrelevant vocabulary or overwhelming grammar. Let’s change that and make learning Czech exciting and effective.
